The IB Way

This IB required class focuses on Technology, but more specifically on Multimedia Technology.  You will learn the various techniques on creating and using technology to communicate information using various forms of media or multimedia.  Again, "Multimedia" is the way in which we communicate using the Internet, graphics and pictures, movies and video and any other ways to present information, including Microsoft PowerPoint. You will be using various technology hardware in the class including the computer, digital video cameras, digital cameras.  As far as software, we will be using the following: MS PowerPoint, Gimp for Graphics Design, iGoogle free Web Design and iMovie for Video Production.  We may or may not get to all lesson units depending on student performance.  It's all up to you!.

All your lessons are in this website, much like taking an online class. You can read and follow directions at your own pace, but don't fall far behind.  If you need help, ask your teacher for guidance.  It is important that you stay fairly close to where your classmates are in completing lessons and assignments.  Please note, your instructor is no longer your teacher since everthing you need to learn is online. Instead your teacher is there to guide you to make sure you are on the right track.

Because you will be using many multimedia technologies, you will become a more effective communicator using many multimedia techniques. As always, as part of communication, you will need to become experts in Literacy (Reading and Writing). As mentioned earlier, this entire course is online which requires you to read and follow instructions.  This is important because you will be planning, designing, creating and evaluating complex projects.

Because the IB way constantly changes, I will be learning more about it.  As I learn more about the IB program, so will you.  This is a learning process for both you and me.  In this syllabus,  several IB concepts will be discussed, some of which you may have already learned in previous years.

What do you know about the IB program?  What is it all about?  Why are we learning in the IB style?  (Here, we will have a class discussion.)
